SYNOPSIS
The threats to marine life on the coast of Uruguay are numerous. With scarce means, precarious conditions, and barely any assistance, Richard Tesore, a peculiar and passionate middle aged man, has been rescuing and rehabilitating stranded marine animals for over 30 years. Recently, the animals and Tesore are facing a new obstacle; that of being evicted from the land that was concessioned to them and where Tesore operates his NGO “SOS Rescate Eco-Marino”.
Despite everything that is going on he continues his daily choirs. At his rescue center, Tesore is closely followed by three waddling penguins, as he feeds the sea lions, turtles, and injured seagulls.

Tesore feeds them “lacha” and oily fish which provides the best nutrition for their recovery, while the baby sea lions are bottle fed with a special formulated milk to make them strong enough to be released back into the ocean. Tesore communicates with the animals by iterating loud noises they recognize, he eats his meals with them, and is visibly more at ease with the animals than with humans! Uruguay does not have an entity in place to support injured or sick marine animals and Tesore has taken it upon himself to do this work despite receiving no sustenance from the authorities. Every election, different political parties use his mission as an emblem for environmental political campaigns and his NGO is promised financial help that he never ends up receiving. His organization has been able to subsist thanks to the generous contributions from animal lovers and the surrounding community that cares about the animals’ fates. There are rumors that local authorities pressured by private interests, are demanding that he leave and disband the shelter in Punta Colorada. Tesore is now faced with the dire predicament of having to close down or move his operation.
Where can Tesore and the many injured sea lions, endangered turtles, and lost penguins go?
